Privacy policy

Effective 26 August 2026. MC Clips (mcclips.com) turns recorded X Spaces into short clips. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have — whether you use MC Clips or you spoke in a Space someone clipped. Questions: info@mcclips.com.

What we collect

Your account. Signing in with X gives us your public profile — X account ID, handle, display name, and avatar. The access is read-only: we never see your X password, and X does not share your email address with us. The sign-in token is used once to read that profile and is not stored. If we offer other sign-in methods (such as Google, or an emailed sign-in link), we receive your name, email address, and avatar from that provider — or just your email address — and use them only to operate your account.

Content you submit. When you submit a Space, we fetch its publicly available recording and metadata from X: title, timing, host handle, and the handles and avatars of the people who spoke. From the audio we produce transcripts, per-recording speaker labels, and clips.

Billing. Payments run through Stripe. Card details go to Stripe, not to us — we store only your Stripe customer reference, plan, and subscription status.

Usage. We collect product analytics (pages viewed, jobs run, features used) through PostHog to understand what is working. Sign-in uses a session cookie. A referral cookie records when you arrive from a clip watermark. Some preferences are kept in your browser's local storage.

What we use it for

To run the product: fetching and transcribing the Spaces you submit, generating and rendering clips, managing your plan and minutes, sending transactional email such as sign-in links, preventing abuse and rate-limiting, improving the product from usage patterns, and answering support.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information, and we show no ads. We cannot post, delete, or change anything on your X account — our access is read-only. We do not build voice-prints or biometric identifiers: telling speakers apart happens within a single recording only, and no voice template follows anyone across recordings. Use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

If you spoke in a Space but don't use MC Clips

Clips can include the voices, handles, and avatars of everyone who spoke in a public Space. Clips of Spaces you host made by someone else always carry attribution back to you. If you host Spaces and want them excluded from clipping by others, use the host opt-out — it takes effect for all users. To request removal of a specific clip you appear in, use takedown or email info@mcclips.com; you do not need an account, and we honor these requests promptly.

Who processes data for us

We use service providers to run MC Clips, each only for its purpose: Fly.io (hosting, US), Neon (database), Cloudflare (networking and media storage), Deepgram (audio transcription), Anthropic (AI selection of highlights and captions from transcript text), Stripe (payments), PostHog (product analytics), and Resend (transactional sign-in email). We share data with authorities only if legally required.

Retention and deletion

We keep account data while your account is active. Source audio and rendered media are kept only as long as needed to provide the service. To delete your account, email info@mcclips.com — personal data is removed within 30 days, except records we must keep (such as billing history).

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your data at info@mcclips.com — we honor these requests regardless of where you live. You can revoke MC Clips's access to your X account at any time from X's connected-apps settings.

Security, children, changes

Traffic is encrypted in transit, sign-in links and codes are stored only as hashes, and we never handle your X or Google password. MC Clips is not directed at children under 13. If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and its effective date; continued use after a change means the updated policy applies.
